Portrait A
Digital Illustration Exercise
A personal portrait study executed using Adobe Photoshop. Based on a renaissance illustration and combined with photographs and intaglio scans.
The fleshy portion of the head was built on an anatomical drawing by renaissance artist C.J. Rollinus for Albrecht von Haller's book Icones Anatomicae (1756).
The neck area was given texture using scans of a number of intaglio prints.
The shoulder area was also built around a portion of an intaglio print, combined with heavy airbrushing and additional texture layers.
